Ascoltare questo CD con le cuffie è il miglior modo per proiettarsi in un mondo di blues nudo e cruento, ipnotismo di percussioni riverberate e taglienti e una chitarra fredda, nel minimalismo di un ambient vampiro e ritmato: - sembra la colonna sonora mancata per E L'Asina Vide L'Angelo (Nick Cave), tanto metodicamente e spiritualmente è guidata la pazzia che si racconta tramite liriche come macigni. 'o5) - Remember Sammy Jenkins è il pezzo che chiude l'ultima autoproduzione di questo Gruppo marchigiano, - ma vince in interesse, e quindi parto da questo: è forte di un exploit continuo che si porta all'apice finale carico di voce urlata e di un'accellerata deviazione ad U degli strumenti. - insomma, un buon picco rabbioso raggiunto con effetto [qui il link diretto all'mp3 sul Loro sito], come anche nella registrazione (di soli due giorni, leggo.. complimenti..). - Le altre 5 tracce che tengono sù questi 21 minuti ca. di Musica, sono tutte giocate su una ritmia veloce, tra emo rumoroso e postrock tradotto indie-pop a consumo rapido, tutto sviluppato nella massima naturalezza (da qui immagino il 'fresh' del titolo dell'album). Insomma, riescono a riscrivere una stessa idea con 5 canzoni/angolazioni possibili, ognuna valida. Per certi versi mi richiamano i sempre nostrani e amati Redworms' Farm. - 6 tracce amabili, godibili, puliti. // Lush Rimbaud - Six Fresh Songs (6tx cdR, 21'36'' auto-prod. 'o5) - Remember Sammy Jenkins is the song this cdR ends with, brand new self-produced release for this italian band, - it's the last song, but it's my fav' one: strong of a continuous exploit touching the final peak, charged with screams and an overdriven instrumental u-turn , - i mean, an impact of rage reached with success [direct link to the mp3], and production is fairly good (even if recordings lasted only two days). Other 5 songs covering the rest of these 21 mins left, are played on a quick rythmic, swinging noisy emo with post-rock, translated in take-away indie-pop, coming out in all freshness (and then, i think to guess the why of album's title). Actually, it's like They re-write the same idea with 5 possible sight-views, always valid. - Sometimes They remember me of beloved Redworms' Farm. 6 loveble tracks, enjoyable, clean.

'o5) - Post-rocker che non sfigurerebbero in casa Psychotica records, data la miscela di noise, soluzioni spigolose e l'impronta prevalentemente strumentale. Terzetto della provincia vicentina, power trio basso/gtr/batt, qui con 9 tracce demo che seppur registrate in presa diretta in soli 3 giorni, come leggo, sono cmq forti di una produzione discreta dei suoni. Alternando strumentali a pezzi cantati, dove la voce di Damiano porta i suoi numeri, ruvida e matura com'è, le canzoni seguono principalmente le regole sincopate del genere, dove i giri di stop&go, chitarra in acido e forti percussioni stanno a inquadrare le cavalcate (su tutte Oh Sweet Sixteen). Insomma, i pegni/debiti geometrici dello stile sono tanti da pagare, ciò non toglie la validità del Gruppo, che invece che luminosa è illuminata. // Schiele - This Heart Doesn't Hurt (9tx cdR, 31'27'' self-prod. 'o5) - Post-rockers that may well match with Psychotica records' releases, - seen the blend of Noise, cornered solutions, and prevalently instrumental print. Coming from northern italy, nearest of Vicenza, this power trio (read gtr+bs+drums), here with 9 demo tracks that are strong indeed of a well done production, even if live recorded in 3 days only, - as i read. It sees balanced instrumental with songs with vocals, where Damiano sings with the strenght of a voice mature and rough. Titles principally stay at syncopated rules of genre, where riffs of stop&go, rancid guitar and strong drumming focus on wild or inner rides (Oh Sweet Sixteen on all). I mean, geometry debts of thi stule are totally due, but that doesn't change the validity of Their Music: instead of being bright, it's simply illuminated.

14-Jun-2005 7:28 PM - Honey For Petzi - Man's Rage for Black Ham (1otx cd, 42'2o'' - Ruminance/Gentlemen rec, 'o5) - Even if continuously angular and mathematical, swiss post-rocker Honey For Petzi have been able to mark these 1o track album of magic of spleen (- the desperated escape of El Château, or the beauty coming out of guitar riff on reverb of Black Buisson), putting aside the easy brutal rage of math/kraut-rock style, but preferring to add some electronic sampling (Blakam), also enriching a few songs with low-mood vocals. Perfect sounds, experimental, strong percussions and bass lines, - minimal guitars, - Their performance is even too much precise, but, like the final track titles, maybe They are Robot After All - so, nothing to add, - Their melanholy is perfect. // Honey For Petzi - Man's Rage for Black Ham (1otx cd, 42'2o'' - Ruminance/Gentlemen rec, 'o5) - Anche se continuamente angolari e matematici, i post-rocker svizzeri Honey For Petzi sono stati capaci di marcare questo album di dieci tracce di magia malinconica (la disperata fuga di El Château, o la bellezza che viene fuori dal riff di chitarra in riverbero di Black Buisson), - mettendo da parte la facile rabbia brutale dello stile alla math/kraut-rock, e preferendo invece aggiungere qualche campionamento elettronico (Blakam), arricchendo anche poche canzoni con un cantato da morale basso. Suoni perfetti, sperimentali, forti percussioni e linea di basso, - chitarre minimali, - la Loro performance è anche troppo precisa, ma come titola l'ultima traccia, forse Loro sono Robot After All, - quindi nulla da eccepire, - la Loro Tristezza è perfetta.

13-Jun-2005 12:56 PM - The Floating City - Entering a Contest (14tx cd - 45'35'' - First Flight, rec 'o5) - It seems that in St. Louis, Missouri, If You look at the sky, You can admir The Floating City, a resounding town, enchanced by Grace and melancholic Evocative Melodies: people of there, They are deadly depressing there, and fragile too.. They cradle their sadness in a little taste of 6o's, melted with indie-sadcore romanticism of a Harmonies built on arcs, rhodes piano, percussions, shy guitar riffs, and male vocals. 12 tracks alterating brilliant ballads (Oh My Guard, Awake) to faster noir-ish scenes (Smooth Cobra Future, Entering a Contest). Then track 13 is 6o sec of silence, to prepare the way for the catchy Oh No!, - a sort of speed-up U-turn, to forget this always-present low-state mood. ps. Artwork CD is fantastic. // The Floating City - Entering a Contest (14tx cd - 45'35'' - First Flight rec 'o5) - Sembra che a St. Louis, Missouri, se guardi in alto nel cielo, puoi ammirare The Floating City, una città che risuona, incantata nella Grazia e malinconia di Melodie Suggestive: la gente di lì è veramente depressa.. e fragile, sembra.. Si cullano la loro tristezza in un piccolo gusto stile 6o's, arricchito di romanticismo indie sad-core di Armonie costruite su archi, piano rhode, percussioni, timidi riff di chitarra e un ragazzo alla voce. 12 tracce che alternano brillanti ballate (Oh My Guard, Awake) a più veloci scene noir-esche (Smooth Cobra Future, Entering a Contest). Quindi la traccia 13 sono 6o sec di silenzio, per preparare la strada all'ammiccante Oh No!, - una sorta di inversione a U in corsa per smorzare l'umore basso, un attimo prima di finire il viaggio. - ps. l'artwork è davvero fantastico.

09-Jun-2005 9:37 AM - Oxes - Oxes Ep (5 tx cd - 22'5o'' Ruminance rec 'o5) - Two years of absence. Now They're back. It's not merely math rock, because Oxes absolutely don't look like academics (and neithern They want to, - see pictures of Them through the net). - Music is often monolithic, vintage, guitars sound histrionics, - chords are frenzy-like: a good appeal for fans of Shellac, Melvins, but without any vocal help (read: instrumental). These tracks fuse metal, hardcore and a demential attitude, two guitars and nonstop-percussions, a special combo, electrifying, talented, explicitly energetic and sometimes cacophonous. The last song is a kind of remix, - maybe wants to be danceable.. - A note about the CD artwork: as usual, it's pure sense of humour, - brialliant, sexy, stupid, sarcastic, - i love these pictures (as all Oxes' flyers/photos i saw around the net). Note 2: this album has been recorded at London's Abbey Road studio! (imagine all the.. oxes!) // Oxes - Oxes Ep (5 tx cd - 22'5o'' Ruminance rec 'o5) - Due anni di assenza. Ora sono tornati. Non è meramente math rock, perchè gli Oxes assolutamente non sembrano degli accademici (e neanche lo vogliono, a vedere le foto sparse nella rete) . - La Musica suona spesso monolitica, vintage, il suono delle chitarre è istrionico, - e le corde sono d'amianto: un buon richiamo per fan di Shellac, Melvins, ma senza supporto vocale (leggi: strumentali). Queste tracce fondono metal, hardcore, e un'attitudine demenziale, - due chitarre e percussioni no-stop, - uno speciale combo elettrificante, talentuoso, esplicitamente energetico e qualche volta cacofonico. - L'ultima acnzone è una sorta di remix, - quasi vorrebbe essere danzereccia.. - Una nota riguardo l'artwork del CD: come al solito, è puro senso dello humour, brillante, sexy, stupido, sarcastico, - amo queste foto (vedi le varie altre o le flyer). Her live exibithions are really rawer than studio recordings, even because it's just Her and drummer Devin Ocampo. Moreover, i just read that Mary sings on two songs of new Chino Moreno's [Deftones] solo album (!!), that is Team Sleep (songs are Tomb Of Liegia and King Diamond (this album also sees Rob Crow of Pinback)): i would be more than curious to hear more..
