CD, but also free download, internet release, credits says 'conceived in 2007, composed in 2008, recorded in 2009, packaged in 2010, release in 2011', - so, if You think it's never too late, well, our beloved three piece from Genova, Italy, Blown Paper Bags, prove it with being total bradipo, willing or not.
And it's kind a shame, because this record is pop-deliciously shaped, - frisky, playful, rhythmically crazy and fully danceable, made multicolour and shimmering like a sparkling merry-go-round. And the operators are the same children galloping.
A carousel musically choreographed à la (early) B52's and The Fall, with a faster, bizzarre gearwork, although, actually, there's nothing really static once you join the hallucinatory horse ballet: often drumming à la Stephen Morris (Carplates Thieves), leaded by boy/girl vocals, fireworks with bass/synth and percussions.
The whole record runs whimsically enjoyable, eclectic is the key word. Besides making you move up and down with The Sound Of My Defiance and Body=Temple, Blown Paper Bags are also able to slow down, playing with the sexy jocose hip-hop of Topless Meeting, as well with the love cats-ish cabaret of Intimacy Shield.
The last track, Blown Manifesto (Pop Eye version), sings 'We were Blown Paper Bags', - it sounds pretty bitter when the amusement ride turns off.
If their previous split with Experimental Dental School was in a way too chaotic, this is perfectly arranged for a heart attack on the (indie) dancefloor.
But not this year, - next year.
