@sansculotides on Twitter shares each day the original elegance of botanical/floral illustration adopted by the French Republican calendar, "implemented during the French Revolution, and used by the French government for about 12 years from late 1793 to 1805, and for 18 days by the Paris Commune in 1871".
Every day had the name of an agricultural plant (except the 5th (Quintidi) and 10th day (Decadi) of every decade), which had the name of a domestic animal (Quintidi) or an agricultural tool (Decadi). [> via]
