La Totally Wired Records colpisce ancora. Questa etichetta austriaca - dopo avermi fatto conoscere Kristy & the Kraks - a distanza di poco più di un anno mi folgora con un altro 45 giri tutto da scoprire; loro sono i Platinum Boys, vengono dal'altra parte dell'oceano. Come il titolo di un film leggendario, sono brutti, sporchi e cattivi.
Mi è bastata un'occhiata veloce al loro profilo FB per capire che i quattro ragazzi di Milwaukee sembrano aver passato un'infanzia difficile. Disadattati veri, forse per colpa del terrore sparso dal loro concittadino tristemente più famoso, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, hanno trascorso la loro meglio gioventù chiusi in casa ad ascoltare il meglio e il peggio del r'n'r - punk - powerpop in compagnia di droghe e alcool vari.
Il 7'' in questione si apre con Confessions; a dirla sincera mi sembra di ascoltare un pezzo degli The Only Ones, e questo non può che fare onore ai ragazzacci di Milwaukee.
Il lato B è la cover di Born On The Bayou, dei sempre freschi Creedence Clearwater Revival; la prima traccia del secondo album della band californiana sembra qui girare a 45 giri, in un loop che ti trascina fino agli inferi della pazzia.
Non ho altre parole... se non che li aspetto a braccia aperte quando si affacceranno da queste parti.

One more hit from Totally Wired Records. This Austrian record label - after introducing me to Kristy & the Kraks - in about one year, they hit me with one more brilliant 45rpm: Platinum Boys, directly from the overseas. Just like the legendary Italian movie was called, they are brutti, sporchi e cattivi (Down and Dirty, in English - k's note).
Just one quick glimpse to their FB page, and it is kind of clear to me they have had hard times in their childhood. True misfits, perhaps because of the terror spread by their most sadly-famous fellow citizen Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, they may have spent most of their time locked at home, listening and listening to the best and worst of r'n'r, punk, powerpop music, with the sole company of drugs and alcohol.
This 7'' disc opens with Confessions; to be honest, it seems to me to be listening to The Only Ones, - and, believe me, this should be flattering for our bad boys from Milwaukee.
The B-side is a cover of Born On The Bayou, of the evergreen Creedence Clearwater Revival; the second album's track of the Californian band seems here to run at 45rpm, in a loop which drags you into the underworld of madness.
I am kind of speechless here.. I can only say that I'll be waiting for them with open arms when they come here.
