Decidere di piantare una magnolia per molti è una specie di follia, dal momento che, chi butta il seme, difficilmente vive cosí a lungo da riuscire a vedere poi la pianta adulta, nel suo splendore.
Avvicinarsi ad un nuovo disco dei This will destroy you, specie dopo il controverso Tunnel Blanket, induce un meccanismo simile.
Mettere su un pezzo de l'ensemble di San Marcos - Texas - non ci fa venire troppi dubbi su dove saremo quando terminerà, ma in generale può far ridefinire i termini di come ci rapportiamo emotivamente con i vari concetti di luce sconfinata, scie di calore o praterie di dolore.
I loro cugini di Austin, gli Explosion in the sky, hanno realizzato la colonna sonora di Manglehorn, il film con Al Pacino presentato questi giorni a Venezia. Si dice che lo sceneggiatore, Paul Logan, sia stato il loro vecchio tecnico delle luci in tour. Non sappiamo che fine farà il ragazzo che aiuta This will destroy you con l'illuminazione sul palco, ma dal vivo le loro intensità di colore hanno delle variazioni cosí monumentali, che quando torna a casa il nostro avrà fatto talmente tante esperienze sensoriali che potrà benissimo mandare il curriculum al prossimo e più grande colossal di Hollywood, dopo Cleopatra o Mosè sull'LSD.
Ascoltando il nuovo Another Language, la prima considerazione che viene in mente è che il quartetto abbia deciso di lavorare molto sulla sintesi e l'evaporazione dei propri suoni.
I pezzi rimangono molto lunghi e pieni d'atmosfera, ma episodi come War prayer dimostrano come i This will destroy you provino ora a scoprire di più la spina dorsale del loro caratteristico magma retrattile.
La stessa Invitation, rispetto al disco precedente, sembra quasi un cedimento alla melodia o alla forma canzone.
Another Language non riserverà troppe sorprese, a chi come noi è appassionato della band, ma dimostra che sotto i volumi e i tempi ultradilatati c'è ancora una ricerca e uno studio mutante. Il 23, 24 e 25 passeranno a Padova, Roma e Milano. Faremo un nodo al nostro basilico per ricordarcelo.

We do not know what will happen to the guy who helps This will destroy you with the stage lighting, but, during their live shows, the intensity of colors have so many monumental variations, that as their world tour is over, this guy can go back home with such a huge expertise: he can send his CV straight to Hollywood, for the biggest blockbuster to come after Moses and Cleopatra, a move on LSD.
Listening to the new Another Language, the first consideration that comes to mind is that the quartet decided to work hard on the synthesis and the evaporation of their sounds.
The pieces are very long and loaded with soundscapes, yet, episodes like War prayer light up how This will destroy you are trying now to show more of the backbone of their distinctive retractable magma.
Invitation - more than others - in comparison with their former record, seems to indulge more to melody or a song form.
Another Language won't hold many surprise to those of us who are passionate about the band, but it shows that under volume and stripped down tempos, there is still a search and mutant study.
