Secondo una recente statistica, pare che il libro che in assoluto è stato dimenticato più di frequentemente nelle stanze d'albergo l'anno scorso sia Cinquanta sfumature di rosso. Più che vedere il terzo capitolo della povera E. L. James in questa classifica, ci stupisce il fatto di come cosí tanta gente abbia potuto comprare e finire anche il primo e il secondo episodio di questa specie di saga. Nella nostra vita, siamo contravvenuti un po' a tutti i punti fermi che ci eravamo posti, ma giuriamo che non leggeremo mai un libro di questa autrice in un albergo. Almeno che non ce lo legga direttamente lei con in sottofondo i primi tre pezzi dei Montag.
Non sappiamo come se la cava il gruppo di questi oriundi romani (con ex membri di Denise dentro) nel musicare i reading letterari, stando al loro esordio però, pare che la lezione del miglior post-rock strumentale l'hanno appresa bene e riformulata in una proposta matura e personale.
Ernst aller ton I e II non hanno i titoli in olandese, ma fanno pensare addirittura al principio dietro alcuni quadri di Van Gogh. Uno dei pregi più disarmanti del maestro post impressionista infatti era quello di riuscirsi sempre a liberare da ogni referente oggettuale. Il fondamento del colore nei suoi lavori non è mai l'oggetto di natura, ma solo la forza del colore stesso, affrancato dalle barriere e i limiti dei tratti.. Ora non vogliamo imbarcarci per paragoni troppo impegnativi o fare colpo sulle lettrici di E. L. James portate qui da google, ma i Montag hanno davvero la personalità di farci sprofondare in vortici e spirali di un magnetismo dirompente e in cui le barriere e gli steccati di un genere non hanno senso. Un po' per la carica psichedelica, un po' per la profondità delle ombre metalliche e soprattutto per l'eleganza sopraffina che li rende una realtà assolutamente luminosa nel circuito italiano. Se questi sono i primi tre pezzi, giuriamo che anche l'ottavo e il nono li lasceremo nella cassaforte della reception di ogni albergo dove andremo in vacanza. Anche quando torneremo ad Amsterdam, dato che la scorsa volta ci siamo dimenticati di andare al museo di Van Gogh.
Approfittiamo per ricordare che suonano questo venerdí, il 14 marzo allo Spartaco di Roma al Festival di Quadrarock.

According to recent statistics, the most frequently forgot book in hotel rooms, last year, is Fifty Shades Freed. Rather than see the third chapter of the poor E. L. James in this top ten, we find it amazing how so many people have been able to buy and finish even the first and second episode of this kind of saga. For sure, we broke more than a promise in past, but we swear that we will never read a book by this author in a hotel. Unless you read it directly with the first three tracks of Montag's debut record on background.
We do not know if they can deal with scoring music for literaly readings, but this four piece from Rome (feat. ex members of Denise), however, it seems like they carefully attended the best instrumental post-rock educational course, and made of it their very own version.
Ernst aller ton I and II do not have the titles in Dutch, but they have like a connection with criterion behind the paintings of Van Gogh. One of most disarming skill of of the master of post-impressionism was, in fact, the being always able to break free from any referent object.
The basis of color in his work is never the object of nature, but only the strength of the color itself, freed from the barriers and limitations of the traits.. Now we do not want to embark too challenging comparisons to impress upon E. L. James' female readers, brought here by google, but, Montag have got really the needed personality to drag us into vortex and spirals of an erupting magnetism, where barriers and fences of a music genre do not make any real sense. Maybe, because of the psychedelic load, maybe in reason of the depth of some metallic shades, and overall for a certain elegance, - all this makes of them a genuine gem in the Italian scene. If these are their first three tracks (Trepezzi, all in one word, in Italian), we are sure that also the 8th and the 9th, we will leave them in the safe at the front desk in each hotel where we'll be on holiday.
And even the next time we go to Amsterdam: we won't forget again to visit Van Gogh's museum.
