Ogni volta che metto sul piatto un disco comprato al banchetto di un concerto ho sempre un po' paura; troppe volte, dopo esaltanti performance live, il lavoro in studio ha deluso le mie aspettative. Il concerto in questione era l'Annibale Festival a Prato, situazione pazzesca e delirante; che mi ha fatto pensare ancora una volta che Roma sia la capitale del provincialismo. I The Vickers il gruppo; quartetto fiorentino che dal vivo sono stati a dir poco devastanti. Il disco è questo 7'' fresco di uscita.
In questo caso lascio le riserve in panchina.
She's Lost è il calcio d'inizio; un pezzo alla New Order a contorte tinte psichedeliche. Una voce, che nonostante il peso, aleggia leggera su una batteria che non perde un colpo; chitarra, basso e droghe allucinogene sconvolgono bene certe Atmosphere.
Il b-side è All I Need ed esplode tutta la cattiveria libidinosa dei The Vickers. Comincio a scodinzolare; voglio diventare il loro cane e uno degli ultimi eroi della generazione che ha fatto la storia si cala un altro acido. Speriamo non sia l'ultimo.
Un gruppo da tenere al guinzaglio; complimenti.

Each time I put on the turntable a disc I bought after a live show, I am always kind of scared: too often, after a superlative performance on stage, the recorded thing reveals to be below expectations. In this case, the show was during Annibale Festival in Prato, Tuscany, ITA, - frenzied and crazy event, such that it made me think once again of how Rome is the capital of provincialism. The band in question was The Vickers: four piece from Florence, I totally loved their live performance. And here it is their record, this brand new 7''.
In this case, we leave the reserves sitting on the bench.
She's Lost is the kick starter; a track à la New Order with psychedelic, twisted colors. A voice, that despite the weight, hovers light on a drum pattern that does not miss a beat; guitar, bass, and hallucinogenic drugs taking over a certain Atmosphere.
B-side is All I Need and it is like The Vickers give the best of their libidinous malice. I am like wagging; I wanna be their dog, and one of those last heroes left of that generation that made the music history plunges down one more acid. Hopefully not the last one..
A group to be kept on a leash; my regards.
