intricate bass, angular, in a clean/distorted couple formula, drums and
two male vocals (a memory of Mission of Burma). Opening title track is an instrumental crescendo, and while Distant Apology narrative appeal recalls Slint, Fragile End is a powerful desperate quick track, direct impact, refrained into two minimalist parenthesis, as well Short but Sweet; Slippage is a narcotic run along screamo-hc brutality. drives along different dynamics, - slow to midtempo and then faster, -
it's not exactly something new, but it's genuine and honest in its
touch and attitude.

Bear Claw - Slow Speed: Deep Owls (11tx CD, 48'12'' - Sickroom rec 'o8) - Ok, viaggio nel tempo negli anni 90, la Dischord, Rapeman, The Jesus Lizard, e cosí via, - registrati da Steve Albini, masterizzati by Bob Weston, - insomma, questo è porno per i fan del math-rock! Seconda uscita per i Bear Claw, - linee di basso energetiche e fratturare, - anzi, DOPPIO basso (eccellente il fraseggio su Stubborn Agenda), quindi sí, non ci sono chitare, ma due bassi che si intrecciano, angolari, in una formula da coppia pulito/distorto, poi batteria, e due dei tre ragazzi alle voci (qualche memoria dei Mission of Burma). La traccia che apre e dà il titolo all'album è uno strumentale crescendo, e mentre il fascino narrativo di Distant Apology richiama gli Slint, Fragile End è una disperata traccia veloce, diretta, chiusa tra due parentesi minimaliste, come anche la Short but Sweet; Slippage è una narcotica corsa verso la brutalità screamo-hc. Slow Speed: Deep Owls guida lungo differenti dinamiche, - da lento al midtempo a qualche accelerazione, - non è esattamente Musica nuova, ma resta genuina ed onesta in fatto di stile e attitudine.
