The Jury

Kurt Cobain: "I remember him [William Burroughs] saying in an interview "These new rock'n'roll kids should just throw away their guitars and listen to something with real soul like Leadbelly." I've never heard about Leadbelly before and I bought a couple of Leadbelly records and now he turns out to be my absolute favorite of all time in music. I absolutely love it more than any rock'n'roll I ever heard.

The Jury (1989) was a Leadbelly project featuring Mark Lenegan - Vocals  Kurt Cobain - background vocal and electric guitar  Krist Novoselic / Jack Endino - Bass  Mark Pickerel - drums.
Short lived project, the first two recorded tracks appeared on Lenegan's debut The Winding Sheet, the latter on Nirvana box set With the Lights Out (and of course, there's the more popular Nirvana version on MTV NY Unplugged set).
