A full length album of 'extemporary and improvised recording sessions' between 2009 and 2010, telling a travel made along the imaginary Parallel 41, connecting Barbara and Julia and the places they toured together from Naples to New York.
Vocal improvisations swirling through live-treated sampling and field recordings (Barbara De Dominicis [past review, here]) suspended on haunting vaults of cello experimentation (Julia Kent).
Elegance and enchantment, noir tinted by Barbara's voice and whispers, which seduce and tease listener's mind on short interludes and longer and more narrative tracks. Soothing poetry, ambitiously avant-music.
The Naked City best captures Kent's gift of drawing illusory canvas, with unorthodox palettes filled of delay pedals and loop station, while Out Of Season and Voiceless Laughter picture De Dominicis' passion for taking audio snapshots of her travels.
A deluxe release - gem for collectors - features also a bonus DVD with Davide Lonardi's documentary film, Faraway Close, which follows the duo on their sound journey and actually gives a concrete vision of their experience together, showing the towns and magic locations of their recording sessions, plus live footages and some interviews.

Un album di registrazioni estemporanee e improvvisate, tra il 2009 e il 2010, a raccontare un viaggio lungo la linea del Parallelo 41, che connette l'affinità elettiva di Barbara e Julia, e i luoghi che hanno girato insieme da New York a Napoli.
Improvvisazioni vocali che fluttuano lungo field recording and sampling (Barbara De Dominicis [una recensione, qui]) sospese sulle incantevoli volte descritte dalla sperimentazione su violoncello (Julia Kent).
Eleganza e incanto, tinti noir dalla voce e i sussurri di Barbara, che seducono e stuzzicano la mente dell'ascoltatore, tra brevi interludi e traccie dalla narrativa più lunga. Melliflue poesie, ambiziosamente avant-music.
