A volte certi viaggi cosmici, oltre le vesciche ai piedi, lasciano anche dei positivi strascichi; in questo caso si tratta di un 45 giri che gira a 33 e che non riesco a smettere di far girare nel mio giradischi. Tutti questi giri di parole per presentarvi Mr Bonz... originale one-man-band originario di Rennes; in terra francese. Ascoltando le quattro tracce, prodotte dalla tedesca Stencil Trash Records, comprendo che qui originale fa rima con primordiale; un r'n'r' scarno e senza stronzate, suonato con tutte le parti del corpo; ma soprattutto con il cuore. Forse è proprio questa l'essenza essenziale che tanto mi fa impazzire del fenomeno uomini-monobanda.
Mr Bonz apre il lato A di Playing with Strings suonando Rumble Walk e ho la netta sensazione che dall'alto il buon Link Wray se la stia ballando tutta nel fottuto paradiso degli immortali idoli del r'n'r'. Il secondo pezzo è Justine; una cover di Don & Dewey (duo dimenticato nel purgatorio dei semisconosciuti che affolla il periodo a cavallo tra i 50 e 60) ma qui tirata e sguaiata quasi ai limiti del punk. Situazione estrema, come quelle che preferisco vivere.
Il secondo lato si apre invece con Wild Side! e Mr Bonz è subito selvaggio. Sputa infatti nel kazoo tutta la sua infernale attitudine da rocker; e proprio da buon rocker Mr Bonz si congeda con un lentone da brividi; perché come mi insegna un nostrano uomo-banda il rock & roll è soprattutto RomAntico. I'm alone ed il one man band francese ci ricorda ancora una volta che spesso a sentirsi soli non è poi cosí male.
Che dire di più; posso solo aggiungere se durante i vostri viaggi estivi vi imbatterete in qualche flyer di questo personaggio, non gettateli al vento. Teneteli in tasca e in mente... spettacolo garantito; parola di Musica Morta.

All these rounds of words to introduce Mr Bonz... Original one-man-band originally from Rennes, France. Listening to the four tracks, produced by German Stencil Trash Records, I understand here that 'original' rhymes with primordial; a raw r'n'r and no bullshit, played using hands, feet, limbs, all of his body, but especially with the heart. Perhaps this tje essential of the essence of this phenomenon I love so much.
Mr Bonz starts the first face of Playing with Strings playing Rumble Walk and I have a vision of good old devil Link Wray which is dancing up there in the fucking paradise of immortal r'n'r' icons. It follows Justine; a cover for Don & Dewey (forgotten duo in the purgatory of almost-unknown in between the years 50 and 60), a version which goes coarse and pulled almost punk. An extreme situation, such as those I love to live.
The other disc side start with Wild Side! and actually Mr Bonz goes wild.
Spit in the kazoo his hellish attitude of rocker, and just as a good rocker Mr Bonz says goodbye with a creepy slow ballad; because, like one of our one-man-band teaches me, rock & roll is especially RomAntic. I'm alone and the French one-man band reminds us once again that often just does not feel so bad to be alone.
What can I say more, I can only add to that during your summer travels you will run into some gig flyer of this character, does not throw it to the wind. Keep them in your pocket and mind... guaranteed performance; word of Dead Music.
