Formerly (not-that-un)known as The Calorifer is Very Hot, now just Calorifero, the three piece releases a new EP, recorded in California (long way from Italy) now focusing their tunes around a rock'n'roll, garage punk sound, not far from the stardust of The Libertines and Blur (Bright Colors Scene), I'd say. Actually both the two popular british bands due something to The Clash.
Anyway, don't misunderstand me, - Calorifero are cutting their own dimension, even with interesting arrangements, - listen to Waiting for Summer, potentially sing-along and filled with brilliant details. But even when they play it simple, - Starving Star, - they fully get the point in 1'51'', and I like to imagine that Calorifero play this track faster on stage. Like a punk splinter.
I guess that also The R's are on this path, You know: overdrive pedal more than distortion, spring reverb, a slightly revivalist cut for 50s rock'n roll tunes (Nice Hips Quake): that means, something totally enjoyable, a band able to fit the party.
So, if You think You don't need a Calorifero this Summer, You may be wrong.

Precedentemente (non cosí s)conosciuti come The Calorifer is Very Hot, e ora solo Calorifero, i tre pubblicano un nuovo EP, registrato in California (insomma, fuori porta rispetto i nostri confini), per concentrarsi a questo giro su un sound più rock'n'roll e garage punk, non lontano dalla polvere di stelle di The Libertines e Blur (Bright Colors Scene), direi. Per quanto poi tutti i citati debbano qualcosa al bancone ai Clash.
Cmq sia, i Calorifero riescono a ritagliarsi una propria figura, anche con arrangiamenti interessanti, - sentitevi la Waiting for Summer, potenzialmente contagiosa, e nutrita di dettagli brillanti. Ma anche quando la fanno semplice, - Starving Star, - riescono a centrare il segno in meno di due minuti, nonchè, mi piace fantasticare che questa traccia la suonino più veloce dal vivo, - sarebbe una bella scheggia punk.
Credo che poi i Calorifero si incontrino nello stesso percorso dei The R's, insomma, più overdrive che pedale distorsore, spring reverb, un leggero taglio revivalista per le melodie anni 50 (Nice Hips Quake): insomma, qualcosa di molto godibile, una band capace di adattarsi ad ogni party.
Quindi a sorpresa, sí, quest'Estate Vi accorgerete che un Calorifero Vi farà comodo.
