La maggior parte delle volte che apro la cassetta della posta mi rendo conto di quanto al giorno d'oggi
siamo invasi dalla pubblicità... in tutte le sue infinite offerte che quasi sempre finiscono a fare compagnia al
resto della carta riciclata... e tutte le volte a chiedermi se non sarebbe meglio evitare quest'inutile spreco...
invece di riciclarlo.
Questa mattina invece avvertito dalla classica doppia citofonata del mattiniero postino che, solo chi è abituato ad andare a dormire troppo spesso quando la notte si confonde alla mattina può capire, ho puntualmente maledetto.
Questa volta però mi devo scusare con lui... invece delle solite offerte 3x2 mi sono visto recapitare una delle 300 copie a edizione limitata di Choose your coffin!, 7 pollici di produzione Boss Hoss rec e distribuito in esclusiva da Area Pirata.
Da un lato si può scegliere di essere seppelliti dai The Monolithics... con un organo distorto che scandisce i tempi della marcia funebre; dall'altro i The Kaams e l'ultimo viaggio è un biglietto di solo andata per l'inferno.
Il tutto è un bel garage nostrano targato Milano e Province che mi sorprende da subito e non solo perché lo ascolto a 33 giri.
Il lato A si apre con Head or Tail e i The Monolithics mi fanno subito venire in mente un affinità sonora con i The Revellions; sarà forse il richiamo di copertina ma la situazione non mi dispiace affatto... questione di organi che qui sono più vitali che mai. Take the Time you Need... e il quartetto lombardo accorda bene gli strumenti... prende la mira... non ha fretta... e ti colpisce in pieno con il suo ritmo travolgente... ruvido... nevrotico... sconvolgente... come lo spirito del garage che qui non ne vuole sapere un cazzo di seppellirsi sotto terra.
I The Kaams iniziano il lato B con So Bad... il trio che si divide tra Bergamo, Brescia e dintorni ha delle sonorità cosí incazzate che di notte li vorrei incontrare solo sul palco di qualche fatiscente locale... il classico punk trio composto da basso, chitarra e batteria ha però chiare influenze 60's; infatti con Why don't you love anymore? i The Kaams potrebbero essere scambiati per una qualsiasi sconosciuta garage band che affolla le compilation in stile Back from the Grave, Pebbles o Garage Beat... un pezzo che ti fa muovere le chiappe.
Dopo aver ascoltato e riascoltato i quattro singoli che compongono questo split sono contento di poter affermare che il garage punk o revival o come cazzo lo volete chiamare in Italia è ancora vivo e vegeto... e non ha nessuna intenzione di scegliersi la bara... un ringraziamento speciale alla Boss Hoss rec che nell'acqua melmosa in cui stagna il nostro Bel Paese ancora ha la voglia di cercare qualcosa di valido da proporre...

Most of the times I open my mail box, I realize how every day we're overwhelmed by spam... a thousand offers mostly doomed to keep company with the rest of recycled paper.. and everytime I say myself how it would be easy to avoid all this waste.. instead of recycling.
Anyway, this morning, I've been called by the classic twice ringing of the early riser postman that I later cursed (you can understand why, if you, like me, go to sleep when it's nearly morning).. actually, this time, I have to apology to this man, because instead of he usual 3x2 special offers, I got one of the 300 pieces of a limited edition of Choose your coffin!, 7'' produced by Boss Hoss rec and released by Area Pirata.
You can choose to be buried by The Monolithics... with a distorted electric organ beating the tempo of a funeral march; else, The Kaams so that your last trip is a one-way ticket to hell.
Delightful garage music, from Milano and surroundings, pure instant pleasure, and not only because it is a 33 rpm.
A side opens with Head or Tail and The Monolithics make me immediately come to mind an affinity with the sound of The Revellions; maybe because of the cover art, anyway it is definitely something I like.. no doubt the organ is the backbone.. Take the Time you Need... and the lombard quartet tunes up the instruments.. takes aim.. no hurry.. and shoots you straight in the face with their overwhelming beat.. rough... neurotic... shocking... as the spirit of garage music that do not want to know to be fucking buried underground.
The Kaams on the B-side start with So Bad... three guys, from Bergamo, Brescia and surroundings, who sound so pissed of that I hope to meet them at night only on the stage of some crumbling venue.. classic punk three piece, - bass, guitar, drums, with undoubtful roots in 60s; for example, with Why don't you love anymore?, you might think The Kaams are a whatever unknown garage band from a compilation like Back from the Grave, Pebbles or Garage Beat...a track to move your ass.
After listening over and over these four singles, I am happy to say that garage punk, or revival, just choose a fucking name, - in Italy, is still alive and kicking.. and with no intention to choose itself a coffin.. a special thank-you to Boss Hoss rec, who, from the muddy water of our Bel Paese, still has the desire to find something valuable to offer..
