Theatre Music for Human Beings is John Reed, aka Simone Secci, and Simone Secci is a sound-man of genius.
From Rome, Italy, for years He played drums for Tocqueville, one more hidden gem from the local indie treasury, - this release, limited to 30 (30!) handmade copies, is His first solo EP, featuring a genuine addiction to lo-fi, shy melodies, cheaply recorded. But You know, when Music speaks by itself, when it's such so strong, so what of clicks and hisses. DIY's rule.
Think Daniel Johnston, Brian Harnetty & Bonnie "Prince" Billy, or, more locally, Bob Corn, with a slight psychedelic off-road path. Emotionally on.
Mr Reed plays vocals, banjo, ukulele, harmonica, folk guitar, glockenspiel, drums and percussions, disorderly, - one man orchestra, Theatre Music for Human Beings is like a merry-go-round of dusty tunes, He blows the dust off the instruments and it comes the magic.
Out-of-tune like a drunk man moving along a straight line, - here it comes the carousel In the cave, as well the morning hangover of Daydream Blues, Blu's intimacy, and the final hate-song I Hope You Drown.
Lights are low, You understand You can't never get rid of that old couch clashing with the room's careful balance.

Regola DIY.

PS. do not miss this Psychedelic Furs' cover of All that Money Wants.
