3eem are a three-piece from Ivrea, - northern Italy, featuring Danilo Corgnati, previously from Isobel, old-school emo punk band we still love downhere. But, actually, this is a different sound-field. And although 3eem are active since 2003, - this is Their first record I got, - a sound-box drawing lines through a sequence of points of convergence of electronic music (the digitally processed side) and analogic fugues of electric guitars, sax and live drums.
A track like Slowmotion may let You guess a connection with that blend of dub tempos and trascendental instrumental ambients à la Seefeel, - but, besides the fact here there is no an ethereal component, - there is a tenor saxophone to change course: - it's still everything very atmospheric, but it goes through a more gelid sensorial speculation, - where jungle/trip-hop music is sedated to be shaped into psychedelia.
In Concreti, saxophone and guitar duet in a very rarefied room of scores and glitches, - Free Karma Food is again written on a spacey plan, now more kraut, - with a distorted guitar solo turning into sax and viceversa, a vacillating hypnosis, actually. Oaxaca and Supergatto are slightly more aggressive, looking for a logic tension dishing out in free-jazz overtures.
Maybe too cold to be memorable, - said that, it's wisely and finely crafted.

I 3eem sono un terzetto di Ivrea, tra i quali figura Danilo Corgnati, precedentemente negli Isobel, Band punk/emo vecchia scuola che qui ancora ascoltiamo con piacere. Ma riguardo i 3eem, questo è un altro campo sonoro. E sebbene siano attivi dal 2003, - questo è il Loro primo disco che mi capita fra le mani, - una scatola sonora che disegna linee lungo una serie di punti di convergenza di musica elettronica (il volto del digitally processed) e fughe analogiche di chitarra elettrica, sax e batteria.
Una traccia quale Slowmotion potrebbe far supporre qualche connessione con quella miscela di tempi dub e ambienti strumentali trascendentali à la Seefeel, - ma, a parte il fatto che qui manca la componente eterea, - c'è un sassofono tenore a virare di rotta: è ancora tutto molto d'atmosfera, ma si passa attraverso una speculazione sensoriale molto più gelida, - dove la musica jungle/trip-hop è sedata per essere forgiata nella psichedelia.
In Concreti, sax e chitarra duettano in una stanza rarefatta di suoni e glitch, - Free Karma Food torna su un piano più spaziale, ma qui più kraut, - con assolo di chitarra distorta che muta in sax e viceversa, - una vacillante ipnosi, agli effetti. Oaxaca e Supergatto sono relativemente più aggressive, come a cercare una tensione logica che sciorina in aperture free-jazz.
Forse un disco troppo freddo per tornare memorabile, - ma a parte ciò, è finemente e qualitativamente prodotto.
