Think of Mogwai, Piano Magic and Low. Because these are the names which popped me up as i listened to the buzzing distortions of The Likeness Is Undeniable and to the mellow sounds and sweet female vocals of Descension. Ok, sure, feel free to think of whoever You want to.
Carta are from San Francisco, USA, - founded as studio project for Kyle Monday & Jason Perez, - line-up changes, it turnt into a full band in last five years, - now also featuring Sacha Galvagna of Rosa Mota / Horsepower playing bass, guitars, and Lorealle (not Ian) Bishop as new vocalist.
Elegant hypnotic writing (Santander), cello, mournful, touching piano themes (Alfred M, and the following reprise The Late Alfred M - a beautiful dramatic duet among Kyle and Lorealle), tuneful ambient instrumental tracks with sparkling swells (Sidereal), often going hypnagogic and noisely slowcore (Building Bridges, - somehow krautrock, and Prettier At Night).
No idea why someone might want to call a song after Bank Of England, but They did it: lovely, intimate sounds, relaxing and fragile.
This record is a good company for reading that book You keep next to your bed on the night table, - that kind of good book You always want to read all in one go, but You always end up thinking it's over-long than needed.

Poi beh, pensate a chi volete.
