Titles like Sorry We Took All Yr Money, Scum Inside, Shame, should warn You somehow about the perfectionism found into unhappiness, - a sort first rule for Scary Mansion's songwriting. Nothing to laugh about.
Debut album, from Brooklyn, USA, the line-up also features ex Asobi Seksu's amazing drummer Ben Shapiro; - Their sonorities are unusually blue, - introduced by a satured and noisy track like Captain, later it follows a sort of noir-antifolk path, driven by guitar, banjo (the double face of lo-fi Unwise, Intro), piano, unorthodox percussions, organ, xylophone, all making an intimate ensemble of resonanting vibrations, - leading to a modern final indie pop track (Oh My), buzzing and with sampled drumming, - suddenly brutally interrupted.
Frankly, You shouldn't listen to this if You want to keep on standing with that stupid smile on your face.
