Ok questa recensione non è del tutto tempestiva. Però visto che siamo in vista del ritorno ufficiale dei Bellini in tour nella nostra penisola e che sta per ricorrere tra qualche giorno il 174quattresimo anniversario dalla morte del grande compositore siciliano al cui nome il questo quartetto si ispira, forse per una volta il nostro ritardo apparirà quasi scientificamente necessario.
Va bene, forse se il grande Totem robotico della batteria Damon Che avesse fatto ancora parte della combriccola saremmo stati molto più solerti.
Ci stuzzicano anche i motivi della dipartita in proposito, ma pare che il gigante dei Don Caballero e il buon Tilotta siano due dei musicisti più autoreferenziali del pianeta.
Una sorta di Franco Nero e Jerry Calà dell'indie. E che indie, quando trovai Waters da Rentùn compat [negozietto affitta-CD nei primi anni 90, meta di pellegrinaggio per noi capitolini in era pre-napster, ndk] ammetto che mi cambiò la vita, ma non vorrei parlare troppo di Federico Immigrato e Rifugiato in terza persona.
Anche i Bellini (lo ribadiamo per chi compra i cd all'Oviesse, includono oltre a 2/4 della band di catania più famosa del mondo anche membri di Girls against Boys e The Romulans) sono una formazione strepitosa.
Nel corso degli ultimi nove anni e quattro dischi ufficiali, hanno affinato ed elaborato tutti gli spunti che li hanno resi noti nei gruppi di appartenenza, forse lavorando meno sulla distorsione e più sugli intrecci matematici.
Dietro il nuovo lavoro sembra più il pretesto per una rimpatriata tra vecchi amici (c'è anche Steve Albini che ha prodotto) che altro.
Il risultato però è soddisfacente. Un po' come quelle amichevoli di calcio estive quando sí è affamati di campionato. Noi poi siam andati allo stadio in agosto pure per vedere com'era Bartelt.

Anyway, seen that Bellini are officially back on tour again in our peninsula [and in Europe too, check it out, ndk], and in a few days it'll be the 174th anniversary of the related great sicilian opera composer, - from whom they took the name, - well, maybe our delay will look like scientifically necessary.
Well, maybe if that amazing robotic totem of drums called Damon Che was still in the band, we would be more mindful in reviewing this.
Actually we're kind of curious about the reasons why he quit, but it looks like that Don Caballero's giant and our beloved Tilotta are two of most self-referring musicians on the planet.
A sort of Franco Nero and Jerry Calà of indie music. And what a indie music!, - i remember of me when i found Waters at Rentùn compat [that is a small brilliant shop in Rome which used to hire out CDs during the 90s, before Napster-age, k's note], i must confess that it changed my life, - but i'm not here to talk about Federico Immigrato e Rifugiato in third person.
And Bellini (for all of You who used to live in a cave until yesterday, the Band features 2/4 of the most famous Catania band in the world, plus members of Girls against Boys and Romulans) are an amazing line-up indeed.
During last nine years and 4 records, they refined and embellished all those strenght points that made them famous in their former bands, maybe focusing less on distorted sounds and more on mathematical tangles.
Actually this release looks more like a homecoming celebration (there's Steve Albini too, producing) than other.
The outcome is satisfactory. A little bit like a sort of summer exhibition football match, when you long for the new official season to come. And us, we came to the stadium in August to see Bartelt playing.
