New chapter for Jason Smith aka Night's Bright Colors, one more time spacing through the boundary of melodic alternative pop and bedroom folk Music.
A fascinating diy production, a solo project with a cast of friend musicians helping, - a soundtrack for the bittersweet happiness, where Jason's vocals are calm and almost whispered, warm and brotherly, - and so the music goes: evocative, atmospheric, evolving in a subtle sensibility turning often romantic - like in the graceful obsessive guitar notes in Parry the Wind.
Acoustic and electric guitars, keyb, accordian, drums, - the beautiful melancholic violins on Family house, - the elegant arrangements of Shining Moment, - Night's Bright Colors shape the body of the intimacy, where the common feeling is shy, personal and private (Bottle Scars), a lyrical attitude having a certain effect on listeners, on me for first.
Last but not the album title track, Late night by lamplight: there's a background acoustic fast arpeggio that sounds and shifts into a far far wind blowing, and even far there's a nearly unhearable piano playing, - and when Jason tells You about the shadows on the ceiling, all looks like a one way ticket for the good night to come, - a night, for sure, full of shifting bright colors (pardon me).

Nuovo capitolo per Jason Smith aka Night's Bright Colors, ancora una volta a spaziare lungo i confini dell'alternative pop più melodico e la folk music da camera da letto.
Una produzione diy fascinosa, un progetto solista che si accompagna di altri musicisti amici, - una colonna sonora per la felicità agrodolce, dove il cantato di Jason è calmo e pressappoco sussurrato, - caldo e fraterno, - cosí come la Musica che ne viene: evocativa, atmosferica, si evolve in una sottile sensibilità che spesso diventa romantica - come nel riff ossessivo e pieno di grazia di Parry the Wind.
Chitarre acustiche ed elettriche, tastiere, accordian, batteria, - i bei violini malinconici di Family House, - gli eleganti arrangiamenti di Shining Moment, - Night's Bright Colors forgia il corpo dell'intimità, dove il sentimento comune è timido, personale e privato (Bottle Scars), un'attitudine lirica che ha un certo effetto sull'ascoltatore, me in primis.
Poi la traccia che dà nome all'album, Late night by lamplight: c'è in sottofondo un veloce arpeggio acustico che suona e muta come in un lontano vento che soffia, e ancor più nascosto c'è un piano che suona, e quando Jason canta delle ombre sul soffitto, allora tutto sembra tarsformarsi in un biglietto di sola andata per la buona notte a venire, - una notte, chiaro, piena di luminosi colori cangianti.
