That's a very creative debut album, written in full maturity, after two EPs.
Sunny Day Sets Fire, UK based, but with members coming also from Italy (Sardinia!), Hong Kong, Canada, - play a kind of symphonic indie pop explosion, at finest, withouth orchestral gloss, - sometimes exposing to some kind of psychedelic pop music, something calling to my mind The Beatles, The Magnetic Fields, as well as Sunny Day Real Estate - not because of the similar name, but for the lyrism in Mauro Remiddi's beautiful voice, somehow able of such so beautiful poetry felt with Jeremy Enigk.
By the way, a song like End Of The Road is an opus to play loud in your room, together with Stranger and Wilderness, to dance jumping here and there, awared of that bitter prejudge that happyness is often so hard to reach. - You'll feel the same inner pain in All Our Songs, mounting a sense of melancholy and graceful elevation. And later as it follows Siamese, - where drummer Onyee Lo sings breathy and searphical, tearing You apart, moving along piano notes, You'll have the clear idea of Summer Palace's greatness.
Anyway don't worry, You won't spend all the time almost crying on this record: there's Adrenaline, - boy/girl vocals, a healthy dose of dance-floor indie attitude, a track looking like written by the Buggles or Ultravox, and also a more radiofriendly Teenagers Talking, with a tasty thumping introduction bass line.
Fascinating, impressive emphasis, doubtless, a beautiful record.

Questo è un album di debutto molto creativo, scritto in piena maturità, dopo due altri EP.
I Sunny Day Sets Fire, di base nel Regno Unito, ma con membri provenienti da Italia (Sardegna!), Hong Kong, Canada, - suonano come un'ottima esplosione di indie pop sinfonico, senza patinatura orchestrale, - a volte affacciandosi su un certo tipo di psichedelia pop, qualcosa che richiama alla mia mente i Beatles, The Magnetic Fields, o anche Sunny Day Real Estate - non tanto per il nome, ma più per il lirismo nella bella voce di Mauro Remiddi, in qualche modo capace di una bella poetica che mi ricorda appunto Jeremy Enigk.
In ogni modo, una canzone come End of the Road è un gioiellino da suonare a tutto volume nella Tua camera, insieme con Stranger e Wilderness, da ballare zompettando qua e là, con la cognizione dell'amaro pregiudizio che la felicità è spesso troppo difficile da raggiungere. - Sentirete lo stesso dolore allo stomaco in All Our Songs, che monta un senso di malinconia ed elevazione nella grazia.
Poi segue Siamese, - dove la batterista Onyee Lo canta con un filo di voce serafica, spezzandoTi in due quell'ultimo sorriso ebete che Ti era rimasto, muovendosi fra le note del piano, - a quel punto l'idea Summer Palace sia un ottimo album è chiara.
Comunque sia, non preoccupatevi, non passerete tutto il tempo a piangere su questo disco: c'è Adrenaline, Lui/Lei alle voci, - una sana dose di attitudine indie per la ballabilità, una traccia che potrebbero aver scritto i Buggles o Ultravox, come anche la più radiofriendly Teenagers Talking, con una forte introduzione di basso.
Un bel disco davvero, pieno di fascino, forte di una impressionante enfasi.
