Anyway, a secret to be told everyone, - more exactly, in next Autumn, as She will release a new album recorded by Steve Albini, - more, She's got a deal with Rai Trade too, - so who knows, maybe next year i'll be fine with paying the fee for italian public television.
Anyway, I had the chance to see Her performing live last month in Rome, as solo, - i felt like enraptured since the ever first moment She started singing.
This Music heals my nerves. Her second release Cherry Pie confirms itself as a little opus, - an inspiring collection of melodies and emotions.
Here accompanied by a full band, it's like She was the point of convergence of Regina Spektor (Her passionate piano in Cecilia's Gift), Stereolab (avant-pop looks to 60s lounge music climax), Nina Simone (Her intense vocals in For A Man), Broadcast (the hypnosis in Bokoo), Mary Timony (the tragedy love told in Cherry Pie), Morphine (the baritone sax accompanying and duetting with Leila, like in Train).
But i'm not talking about influences, - it's more like having something in common, - i'm writing coordinates, not referencies.
Adu's free spirit flies over alternative pop music, the poetic intensity of jazz, free jazz (Vent), often majestically driven by a piano (the frailty in Pedestal), - the effect coming out is totally disarming, acute like tears.
The over 7 minutes of Epilogue - Golden Generation are like the perfect company to take Your hand and gently put You to bed, and although the first lyrics say "it's no time to fall asleep", - as later Leila will let Your hand go, You'll find Yourself somewherelse in Your dreams.
Sometimes mournful, soulful (Walk my Road), - Leila Adu's Cherry Pie is a somewhat unpredictable album, except for the clear idea of Grace and Beauty, clear since the first song.

Comunque sia, ho avuto la fortuna di vederLa suonare dal vivo lo scorso mese a Roma, come solista, - ne sono stato rapito sin dal primo momento che ha cominciato a cantare.
La Sua Musica cura i miei nervi. Il suo secondo album, a titolo Cherry Pie, si conferma come un gioiellino, un'ispirata collezione di melodie ed emozioni.
Qui accompagnata da una full band, è come se Leila fosse il punto di convergenza di Regina Spektor (il piano appassionato in Cecilia's Gift), Stereolab (gli sguardi avant-pop ai climax di lounge music 60s), Nina Simone (l'intenso cantato in For A Man), Broadcast (l'ipnosi di Bokoo), Mary Timony (la tragedia raccontata in Cherry Pie), Morphine (il sax baritono che accompagna e duetta con Leila, come su Train).

Lo spirito libero della Adu si libra sopra l'alternative pop music, l'intensità poetica del jazz, o la forma libera del free jazz (Vent), spesso come maestria guidato dal piano (la fragilità in Pedestal), - l'effetto che ne viene fuori è totalmente disarmante, acuto come lacrime.
Gli oltre 7 minuti di Epilogue - Golden Generation sono come la perfetta compagnia per prenderti per mano e metterti gentilmente a letto, e sebbene la canzone esordisca con un "it's no time to fall asleep", come più tardi Leila ti lascia la mano, sarete già persi nei Vostri sogni.
