In two, Danilo Garro and Andrea D'Agata (both from Mashrooms), from Siracusa, Sicily, Italy, planet Earth, - here in a guitar vs. drums formula, instrumental, - with the exception of some whispered vocals on Glicemia.
Raw math rock, 90s are around the corner, abrasive, syncopated drumming, searching for a free form melody into chaos, - and there's Sacha Tilotta at the sound desk, from Three Second Kiss to help.
No doubt this mini-LP, - more than an EP -, plays along a path going from Slint's Tweez to Shellac: dissonant metallic sound, full of distortion and ferocious movements, a restless headache, even when there's a crying violin as introduction in Marco Alì.
It might sound rather reductive in writing like this, - i'm referring to the well-known adjectives/words used to describe this work, - because out there it's full of similar reviews for similar records with the usual terms and Albini-things, - but, actually, that's the core nucleus, - You can walk around it, - but the strength of gravity takes You there (or at Bob Weston's studio, where Return to zero's been mastered).
Que sera sera, anyway, I'm ready to bet Jackpine are ace in performing live.

Rozzo math rock, gli anni 90 girato l'angolo, abrasivi, batteria sincopata, alla ricerca di una melodia dalla forma libera dentro il caos, - con Sacha Tilotta al banco dei suoni, già Three Second Kiss.
Senza dubbio questo mini album, più che un EP, gioca lungo un percorso che va dal Tweez degli Slint agli Shellac: suoni metallici dissonanti, pieni di distorsione e ferocia nei movimenti, un mal di testa senza posa, anche quando c'è un violino piangente ad introdurre le danze in Marco Alí.
Potrebbe suonare piuttosto riduttivo nello scrivere cosí, - mi riferisco ai ben noti aggettivi/parole usati per descrivere questo lavoro, - perchè là fuori è pieno di recensioni similari per dischi similari con i soliti termini e cose Albinesche, - ma in fin dei conti, quello è il cuore nucleo, ci puoi girare attorno, - ma la forza di gravità Ti richiama lí (o allo studio di Bob Weston, dove Return to zero è stato masterizzato).
Sarà quel che sarà, ma sono comunque convinto che dal vivo i Jackpine spaccano.
