Folk and theatrical, soft and waltz ballads, - Freaky Mermaids are actually three mermaids from Brescia, northern Italy, where the sea is blue and deep. - Actually Brescia doesn't face sea, - just kidding, - but maybe that's why they turned so freaky.
Btw, it sees Ombretta Ghidini, talented singer and guitarist of Les Mans avec les Lunettes, - 4 bittersweet simple songs, plus an even more theatrical reprise of Less i see the more i love, - for something You might label as a cabaret band, sober and lovable, disarming and calm, performed with classic instruments as banjo, clarinet, acoustic guitar, minimal drumming and female vocals, - somehow like coming out from an old european carnivalesque movie, although there's no chaos at all here, - i mean, You'll find yourself comfortable having a cup of tea and listen to this EP at the same time.
It's about two musicians and an actress meeting - as i read, - They deal a common musical key, healing and sweet, - then the whole mood is not far from Lonely Drifter Karen (Love is Here) and a carillion playing (the beautiful tiny sounds of White).

Comunque sia, c'è Ombretta Ghidini, bella voce e chitarra dei Les Mans avec les Lunettes, le canzoni, 4 più la reprise teatrale della traccia Less i see the more i love, - sono sobrie ed agrodolci, semplici, amabili, disarmanti e calme anche, - scritte con strumenti classici quali banjo, clarinetto, chitarra acustica, percussioni minimali e tutte e tre alle voci. - Qualcosa che sembra uscire fuori da un vecchio film carnivalesco europeo, - per quanto del caos non vi sia traccia qui, - anzi, Vi ritroverete comodi ad accompagnarci una tazza di té con questo disco.
