It's The Vickers' label debut album, - They are stuck into a sort of classic brit-pop rock world, clean and accessible, - not mainstream but never getting dirty, - focused on a folk tinged songwriting.
From Florence, Italy, i'd say they have here something in common with Travis, although less pop symphonic, yet equally delicate and breezy.
Among all these tracks, it's once again Silence - previously on a self-produced demo release - to be the memorable one: mid-slow tempo, tambourine, romantic, a poetic refrain were the lyrics have got that perfect cadence that find You randomly singing their rhymes ('how can i / sleep tonight / how can i / close my eyes [..] / cause i'm very tired / of your silence'), - but there's also place for a brilliant placid walk like Bring The Sun, - where Andrea Mastropietro looks like a minstrel, singing a light and dreamy song, not far from some of Les Fauves' parenthesis.
Anyway they can also surprise the listener: mouth-organ, drums on the left channel, alternative-country guitar style, and it's like Lou Reed in I've got You, - where maybe The Vickers show their wilder side.
I can't say this is an excellent album, especially for its kind of music genre and related inflation, - but, for sure, it's sincere and plausibly performed, pleasant tasting; - as regards me, The Vickers just only need to be more incisive, - that something needed to find yourself in their music.

Da Firenze, direi che a questo giro hanno qualcosa in comune con i Travis, sebbene meno pop sinfonici, ma nella stessa misura delicati e ariosi.
Tra tutte queste tracce è ancora una volta Silence - precedentemente edita su una demo autoprodotta, a essere il momento più memorabile dell'album: mid-slow tempo, tambourine, romantica, un ritornello poetico i cui testi hanno quella perfetta candenza nelle parole che ti ritrova a cantarle automaticamente ('how can i / sleep tonight / how can i / close my eyes [..] / cause i'm very tired / of your silence'). Cmq c'è anche posto per una brillante placida passeggiata come Bring the Sun, - dove Andrea Mastropietro pare un menestrello che canta una canzone leggera e sognante, - non lontana da alcune parentesi dei Les Fauves.
Poi riescono anche a sorprendere a metà disco: armonica a bocca, batteria posizionata sul canale sinistro, chitarra in stile alternative country, - sembra quasi esser arrivato Lou Reed in I've got You, - dove forse The Vickers mostrano il loro volto più wild.
Non posso dire quindi che questo album sia eccellente, - specialmente per l'inflazione del suo genere musicale, - ma per certo è sincero e scritto in modo plausibile nonchè godibile. Per quanto mi riguarda, avrebbero bisogno solo di essere più inisivi, - quel qualcosa che mi serve per ritrovare e riconoscere se stessi nella musica di qualcun altro.
