Ex-P  - Carpaccio Esistenziale

From Ivrea, northern italy, at Their second release, Ex-P [it stays for Ekpyrosis] are unconventional in a conventional way. I mean, experimental free-jazz is free and experimental within the jazz framework, - so, sometimes unconvetional is simply synonymous for not-radiofriendy. Btw, Ex-P do Their dirty own thing, i don't think They care too much of orthodoxy and rules, so They walk a new step, less precise than former jewel Ancora Saigon [read former komareview], swinging between funky bass compulsions, fractured percussionism, noises, clarinet flute, guitars. - On the other side, a track as Attacco al tram, is not avant-guardism, yet it's a melancholic trip with sax and drumming drifting in a strong emotive crescendo. 5 Terre is a precious jazz number - all instruments are excellent and evocative. Track#12 L'ultimo Funk is nearly an algorithm in three suites, from one progressive-like to another more kaleidoscopic. - Ok, maybe You won't fall in love with Them, maybe neithern do i, - btw what is love?

 Ex-P - Carpaccio Esistenziale (12tx CD, 40'49'' - Fratto 9 Under the Sky rec 'o8) - Da Ivrea, vicino Torino, alla Loro seconda uscita discografica, gli Ex-P [che leggo stare per Ekpyrosis] sono anticonformisti in modo convenzionale. Mi spiego, lo sperimentalismo free-jazz è free e sperimentale nei limiti del permesso delle stutture jazz, - quindi non-convenzionale a volte è semplicemente sinonimo di non-per-le-radio. - Cmq sia, gli Ex-P fanno il Loro sporco lavoro, e non penso si curino troppo dell'ortodossia e di come sfuggire alle sue regole, quindi fanno un nuovo passo, meno preciso del precedente gioiello Ancora Saigon [leggi vecchia komarecensio], ondeggiante tra linee di basso funky compulsive, percussionismo fratturato, rumori, clarinetto, chitarre. - Dall'altro lato, una traccia come Attacco al Tram, non è avanguardia, anzi, è un malinconico viaggio caricato di pathos da sax e batteria, eccellenti ed evocative. La traccia #12 L'ultimo Funk è pressappocco un algoritmo in tre rimandi, da uno quasi progressive a toni quasi kaleidoscopici. Ok, forse non Ve ne innamorerete, forse nemmeno io, ma cos'è poi l'amore?
