I read that Labasheeda, - indie noise rock three piece from Amsterdam, Holland, - are currently working to a new full-lenght release, due to the end of the summer season, - while this EP is from 2009, followed by a 7'' disc too the same year. Actually, You would bet this Music is from 90s, such it's rooted in that rock time-line. So, I'd say the coordinates of these two records are not that different from the way of their debut Charity Box, dated 2007: a skinny noise ensemble of fuzzy and distorted curvatures, dry mastered, no special efx, - sometimes made ecstatic (Nite Bright) by the celestial (burning) presence of a violin, - played by their singer/guitarist Saskia van der Giessen, somehow vocally with cross-references to Star Pimp or more probably PJ Harvey as archetype, at least for the listener. - Nowadays' listeners would also cite YYY's, but You know, I was a teen in the 90s, I know who our daddies and mommies are. I can say I prefer the tracks on the cute blue trasparent 45rpm disc than the ones featured on the CD, - here Their sound plays more primitive and garage, successfully, - especially the b-sides - two short tracks, - whose one instrumental, with smart stop&go's. Anyway, Labasheeda's songs are kind of vulnerable even they get wilder (the post-grunge attack of Two Too Late, the melancholic final abrasive cut of The Broken Windows of New York City), - there's never enough noise (Free to Destroy) to be savagely fierce (Guardian Angels with Familiar Faces), maybe too-much indie-conventional to be memorable to me, - I have like the feeling there are a lot of missing-explosions here and there, - but, this is my subjective point of view, - anyway, their sound is still genuine, and a track such as Two Too Late is what You'd call catchy.

Mi verebbe da dire, in verità, che questa Musica è molto anni 90, tanto è radificata in quella linea rock-temporale. Quindi, le coordinate di questi due dischi non mi sembrano molto differenti da quelle del debutto Charity Box, datato 2007: un ossuto insieme di noise fatto di curvature fuzz e distorte, un master secco, senza troppi fronzoli, - a volte reso estatico (Nite Bright) dalla celeste (e bruciante) presenza di un violino, suonato dalla cantante/chitarrista Saskia van der Giessen, in qualche modo con una voce con rimandi a Star
Pimp o più probabilmente PJ Harvey come archetipi, - almeno per l'ascoltatore. Gli usufruitori di musica più imberbi citerebbero invece gli YYY, - ma personalmente ero imberbe quindici anni fa, quindi lo so bene chi sono i nostri mamma e papà. In ogni modo preferisco le tracce del 45 giri che quelle del CD, - specie quelle sul lato b, - più primitive e squisitamente garage anche, - tra cui una strumentale, con dei furbi stop&go. Cmq sia, le canzoni dei Labasheeda sono sempre un pò troppo vulnerabili, pure quando si incattiviscono (l'attacco post-grunge di Two Too Late, la malinconica chiusura abrasiva di The Broken Windows of New York City),
- non c'è mai abbastanza di quel noise (Free to Destroy) per essere propriamente selvaggi (Guardian Angels with Familiar Faces), - forse anzi, sono troppo indie-convenzionali per essere memorabili, - ho come la sensazione che ci siano diverse esplosioni mancate qua e là, - ma questo è qualcosa di mio personale, - tra l'altro, il loro sound è genuino, e una traccia come Two Too Late è quella che uno definirebbe d'effetto.
