Stefano Panzera, aka Dedo, is back with a brand new album that keeps faith to the good premises of his former demos, dated years ago.
From Bologna (although His Solar Day is released by a canadian label, 9.12), helped by Giacomo Fiorenza (co-founder of Homesleep and 42 indie records), the 9 tracks sound like Ulrich Schnauss remixing Curve: listen to the bath of light and sounds in The Ballad of the 9 and tell, - it's the electronic side of shoegaze music, that kind of airy melodies celebrating the Nature and the fact of still feeling part of its essence.
There are no many Artists in Italy that share Dedo's playground, - actually, shovel and pail, i can only think of Japanese Gum and Port-Royal (amongst other things, Dedo also remixed one of their songs), - anyway Dedo's passion for lysergical, astral soundscapes and cyclic loops wisely prepare a long soundtrack to heal your nerves and make You levitate one foot off the ground (the acid reverb in Rain), where Serenity is not far from M83's splendour.
The only thing missing here, à mon avis, is a leading voice, - maybe some soothing female additive, - pushing for an ethereal identity, like suggested through the hidden sampled vocals in Summer and The Gaze, - that something that would make memorable each of these songs.
Anyway, no doubt about why 9.12 rec, as i read, is proud of this release.

Stefano Panzera, aka Dedo, è tornato con un nuovo album che mantiene fede alle buone premesse dei precedenti demo, datati anni or sono.
Da Bologna (per quanto il Suo Solar Day sia pubblicato da un'etichetta canadese, la 9.12), aiutato da Giacomo Fiorenza (co-fondatore delle indie record Homesleep e 42), le qui 9 tracce suonano come Ulrich Schnauss che remixa i Curve: sentiteVi il bagno di luce e suoni di The Ballad of the 9 e ditemi, - è praticamente il volto elettronico della musica shoegaze, quel tipo di ariose melodie che celebrano la Natura e il fatto di sentirsi ancora parte della sua essenza.
Non ci sono molti Artisti in Italia che condividono lo stesso campo giochi di Dedo, - anzi, mi vengono in mente con paletta e secchiello solo Japanese Gum e Port-Royal (tra le altre cose ha remixato uno dei loro pezzi), - in ogni modo la passione di Dedo per le fughe lisergiche/astrali e loop ciclici, dosa saggiamente una lunga colonna sonora atta a lenire i nervi e farVi levitare un piede da terra (il riverbero acido di Rain), dove Serenity non è lontana dai fasti di M83.
L'unica cosa mancante qui, a mio personale avviso, è una voce guida, - forse quell'additivo femminile celeste che premerebbe per una maggiore identità eterea, come suggerito dai sample vocali nascosti in Summer e The Gaze, - quel qualcosa che renderebbe memorabile ognuna di queste canzoni.
In ogni modo, non mi stupisco che la 9.12 rec, come scrive, sia fiera di questo album.
