Twee pop, diy/bedroom recordings, shy pop melodies with two boys at vocals, - Adriano Elia and Paolo Marcellini, from southern italy, in Salerno, play high quality minimal tunes where their musical attitude is getting closer as possible to a sweet silence. Be quite and play that melancholic song, - that's their rule.
I am reading this is their 9th release (what?), self-produced (uh, ok), - anyway, this Po(p)tential has got something in common with Camera Shy's innocence, - that genuinely enjoyable songwriting, sincerely delicate and full of simple grace, - as well it brings me back to something i already heard in a sampler relased years ago by the norwegian Cafe2oo1 rec, This Is The Cafe Superstar Beat, where all the featured bands shared their passion for a blend of microsounds, bleeps for drumbeat and 60s pop guitar riffs. Maybe You won't hear Tôrst play bossanova here, - but Their slowness in sound is pretty close to those magic placid feelings: Keen on Me, the instrumental Mmmmhhh it's Tôrst again (somewhat Morriconian) and In the Long Run are three excellent exercise of delicacy. Twee pop, diy e registrazioni da cameretta, - melodie timidamente pop con due ragazzi alle voci, - Adriano Elia e Paolo Marcellini, - da Salerno, - i Tôrst suonano delle minimali melodie d'alta qualità, dove la Loro attitudine musicale sembra spingersi il più possibile vicino ad un dolce silenzio. Stai calmo e suonala triste, sembra essere qui la regola. - Leggo che questo è il Loro nono disco (che?), autoprodotto (ah, ok), - in ogni modo questo Po(p)tential ha qualcosa in comune con l'innocenza dei Camera Shy, - quella scrittura genuinamente godibile, sinceramente delicata e piena di semplice grazia, - un qualcosa che ho già sentito anche in un sampler che mi arrivò anni fa da parte del collettivo norvegese Cafe2oo1 rec, This Is The Cafe Superstar Beat, dove tutti i gruppi in lista condividevano la passione per una ricetta di microsuoni, bleep in luogo di drumbeat, e giri di chitarra molto 60s pop. Forse non sentirete i Tôrst fare della bossanova qui, - ma le Loro lentezze sono piuttosto vicine a quei magici placidi sentimenti del genere: Keen on Me, la strumentale Mmmmhhh it's Tôrst again (piuttosto Morriconiana) e In the Long Run sono tre eccellenti esercizi di delicatezza.
