Pio Mazzotti - Teenie Fantastic (7tx cd, 23'19'' - Self prod. 'o5) - Dunno why these kids from Brooklyn decide to name them-selves after an italian surname, - and btw it's not absolutely catholic rock Music as it might sound downhere in italy with a name like that. Anyway, Teenie Fantastic is a pure smelly punkrock record, boy/girl vocals, full of electrified lead guitars (Dead Men Tell Tales and Bownow are fucking drifting! and guitar solos are often dear to Dinosaur Jr), screaming out through distortions and levels of pure raunchy riffs and gritty melodies. No sonic innovations, i mean, but You cannot ignore the genuine blowing out passion of these tracks. The last title is just buzz/noise. - Friends of ..And You Will Know Us by the lenght of our name and Weezer, but with a moer prominent diy attitude. - Read below for some free mp3s; CD available through Tower rec. // Pio Mazzotti - Teenie Fantastic (7tx cd, 23'19'' - Self prod. 'o5) - Non so perchè questi ragazzi di Brooklyn decidono di ritrovarsi un nome italiano per il Loro Gruppo, e non è assolutamente rock-cattolico come potrebbe far pensare (almeno a me!). - Al contrario, Teenie Fantastic è un disco punkrock puzzolente, con ragazzo/ragazza alle voci, pieno di chitarre elettrificate in primo piano (Dead Men Tell Tales e Bownow sono senza dubbio di trasporto! E gli assoli della seicorde sono spesso cari ai Dinosaur Jr), chitarre cche urlano su distorsioni e riff a livello di puro noise e melodie rancide. Nessuna innovazione sonica, + da intendersi, - ma ciò non toglie che sia una passione genuina che esplode su queste tracce. Jesse Krakow - Oceans in the sun (31tx cd, 41'38'' - Public Eyesore 'o5) - Try to focus on a point where the genius melts coordinates of The Residents with Jad Fair and Frank Zappa, and somehow probably You'll find there Jesse Krakow and then You are able understand how it's possible to have an album of about 42 minutes with 31 tracks.. songs from 8 seconds to not more than 4 minutes. Eclectical no-wave, crazy, rudimentary experimental lo-fi and diy excerpts. And He's a great funky bass player too. - I mean, i cannot swear i'll play this album very often, but that doesn't change it's brilliant and chaotical genuine, - it's the melody of weirdness. - AscoltateVi Make It Say Hello. // Jesse Krakow - Oceans in the sun (31tx cd, 41'38'' - Public Eyesore 'o5) - Cercate di focalizzare un punto dove il genio fonde le coorinate dei Residents con Jad Fair e Frank Zappa, e in qualche modo, probabile, troverete lì tale Jesse Krakow, e quindi sarete anche capaci di capire come sia possibile avere un album di circa 42 minuti con 31 canzoni.. pezzi dagli 8 secondi a non + di 4 min. On this tuesday, 11:20 AM (PST/Cal, then i guess at 7.20pm CET), on 89.9 KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic", Devics are performing live, with a full line-up, playing new songs from latest Ep Distant Radio (more feedback here about this beloved release in next days): You can tune in on-line and listen the performance (i'll do!). - Moreover, They are almost finished makings songs for a new full length "Push the Heart", to be released next year. - I can't wait! - Love to Devics.

Reading blogspot Buscate Un Novio, i found the story of The Shaggs, maybe one of less-rock&roll-like human beings in a band: but their story is pretty sad and odd.. three young sisters of later '60s, obliged by Their father to form a group to pay his debts.. Later Frank Zappa mentioned Their Philosophy the world ('69) as his third favorite record of all the times.. "to better than the Beatles".. These girl, kind of freakshow faith-oriented, feared by god attitude, are totally allspot-faced and smiling like in church, - but listening to mp3 My pale foot foot (download via Buscate) You can hear how Their sound was genuinesly original and premonitory primitive no-wave..

Agatha - Greetings From S.Sg (9tx cd, 24'o7'' - Wallace rec / Vurt rec 'o5) - Preambolo inutile, con domanda inutile che dovrebbe far pensare (oddio..): quanti Gruppi di rriot grrls italiane mi sapreste nominare? - Non c'è bisogno rispondiate.. chissà perchè c'è tanta moria femminile nell'indie.. ma non ce l'avete un'anima? che peccato! a parte le Motorama, non mi viene in mente nulla.. saranno troppo impegnate a bruciarsi i neuroni altalenandosi tra cosmopolitan o sprecando talento in cover di laura pausini.. già è raro trovare una agrodolce fanciulla che ascolti Codesta Musica.. figurarsi poi.. - fine preambolo. - Informazioni poche e niente per questo trio, che vede Pamela, basso e voce, Claudia, batteria, e Daniela alla chitarra. Ed è un Bel Disco! Niente lo-fi, niente amatoriale, anche se la cover art presenta una merda di plastica in copertina. - I 25min del disco si consumano senza problemi, nell'immediatezza, dopo una falsa intro tutta tranquilla (ripresa negli utlimi secondi della traccia finale Dani was in love with burzum..), le chitarre/basso e batterie sono tutto un continuo esplodere, la voce è perennemente viscerale/urlata, su suoni rancidi/acerbi, miscelando hard-core e noise (Temper) con nera ironia (la caricatissima We're a band of freaks) e tagliando melodia col macete. And it's a good record! No lo-fi, no amatorial, - even if covert art consists of a plastic shit. - These 25 min are to be consumed quickly, no problems, in immediacy, and after a first fake still start, everything blows out, vocals are always screamy, visceral and totally angry, over rancid/acerbic sounds, harshly melting hard-core and noise (Temper) with a black irony (We're a band of freaks kicks out!) and slicing melodies like a machete. I just read that (iloveYOU!) Bjork composed the soundtrack for a new experimental movie, Drawing Restraint 9, by visionary Matthew Barney.. Music features also Will Oldham, and 'providing a counterpoint to the ancient instruments and traditional compositional methods [..] the palette and extend the formal complexity of Björk's musical ideas'.. i really long to see the movie! and to hear It, too.. in the meanwhile, You can listen to some audo clips here.

Ok, è piuttosto inquietante che cercando la copertina di Nosferatu (Phantom Der Nacht), Musiche di Popol Vuh, escano fuori sulla prima pagina anche i pooh! come risultato.. mi vengono i brividi.. (ps. se volete avere l'album in questione dei Popol Vuh in mp3, scrivetemi entro oggi o domani, e Vi passo il link).. // Oh well, it's scary, i was looking for cover art of Nosferatu (Phantom Der Nacht), Music by Popol Vuh, and between first results, i get an italian trash band of 60's called pooh!.. it gives me shivers.. Studio Davoli are an interesting indie Band from italy, touching an electronic 60's-taste delirium dear to Air. Their single Sex Safari, from Megalopolis album (recordkicks rec), is now out as a video, a funny production using endless picture frames. And the Music sounds really nice. // Gli Studio Davoli sono un'interessante indie Band nostrana, che tocca un gusto/delirio stile anni 6o elettronico molto caro agli Air. Il Loro singolo Sex Safari, dall'album Megalopoli (recordkicks rec), è ora in rotazione come video, una divertente produzione che usa un'infinità di fotografie in seguenza. E la Musica suona molto bene.

Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - Bavarian Fruit Bread (12tx cd, 49'24'' - Rough Trade rec 'o5) - Soft, softy, delicious, a precious gem, delicate Music, in loved with, folk, low, highly inspired, tenderness, dreamy, nocturnal, faint evening lights, angel's whispers, sounds a little bit 6o's like, calm bossanova harmonies over subtle loveliness, On the Low, Clear Day, Drop (written by W. Reid, of Jesus & Mary Chain): all that to say angelical/sensual vocalist Hope Sandoval met Colm O'Ciosoig (formerly in My Bloody Valentine), and They wrote together 12 tracks of Pure mesmerising Beauty. And sparkles dear to Mazzy Star are not far, - and Colm shows to be a talented as well inspired guitar player, able to spread star-dust all around Hope's lyrics. - And all sounds such so magic, again.

Found on the net: Glenn Branca's SYMPHONY No.1 (1981) (Tonal Plexus) Music in Four Movements for Multiple Guitars, Keyboards, Brass & Percussion. 1st part, 2nd part. - This is a special Gem of M(usic)ayem under control, the root of Noise Music, - all sounding as a perfect symphony, live performed, - and Thurston and Lee were just two dudes around 2o yrs old.. oh jesus.. hurry up, i think this link will not work much longer.. - Glenn Branca was the one after the 2001 live performance of Hallucination City: Symphony for 100 Guitars: it gives me the shivers!!!!!!!!

Taras Bul'ba - Incisione (8tx cd, 26'19'' + dvd - Wallace records 'o5) - Nome ispirato a Gogol? Cmq una bella altalena di psichedelia nei momenti rari più distesi (Imothep) e math/noise in quelli più presenti e fisici (linee di basso durissime insieme alla batteria picchiata duro). Quasi progressive nei giri veloci a mò di labirinto, anche se molto grezzi nei suoni per essere nel genere, - e, non lo direste mai, - sono italiani. Invece tutto suona oltreaoceano. Mi vengono in mente i magnifici Laddio Bolocko (senti Mayuki), - ma è difficile tirare una linea esatta di congiunzione. Le atmosfere tirate sù (registrate da Fabio Magistrali, nome sempre + presente nelle produzioni/mixer ita_indie) sono malate, claustrofobiche e in b/n come nel video di Morder Unter Uns incluso nel dvd allegato nella confezione cartoncino (praticamente marchio deluxe delle uscite Wallace questo packaging in digipack). // Taras Bul'ba - Incisione (8tx cd, 26'19'' + dvd - Wallace records 'o5) - A name calling Gogol? Btw, a cute swinging of psychedelic moods during rare relaxed moments (Imothep) and a math/noise-Thing shaking more physical ones, where bass guitar lines are very heavy, togheter with a beaten-hard drumming. Sometimes almost touching progressive arounds, when it gets lost into a labyrinth of fast sounds, - even if too raw to be own of this genre. - And, You wouldn't guess, but, these guys are italian. Even if everything sounds outer-sea. - I might say They recall me of amazing Laddio Bolocko (hear Mayuki), even if it's not easy to establish a conjunction line between. Atmoshperes are ill and gloomy, kind of b/w like the video for Morder Unter Uns, featured on dvd You can find enclosed in a nice digipack shape, - packaging form to be considered as a factory-mark for Wallace rec's releases.

Ten Minutes to Now - s/t (5+1tx cdR promo, 31'16'' - self prod. 'o5) - Recensione un pò a ritroso: potete ordinare questo cdR gratuitamente dal sito della Band. - Le ultime tre tracce del demo ben avvicinano i toscani Ten Minutes to Now a filoni Mogway-iani e Explosions in the Sky, - tessendo trame strumentali sognanti, e soffioni di vento a distorsione e delay delle chitarre, con batteria e basso morbidi nel caricare quel lancio nel cielo, liberando la distensione delle ali per prendere il volo: questo meglio descrive Eleventh. A differenza, l'altra strumentale che le precede nella track-list, Chemical Plant, gioca + un'aria di memoria new-wave, su ebow, percussioni e basso Bauhaus, forse perdendosi troppo nella lungaggine da sala prove. La voce invece si trova sulle prime due tracce della scaletta, due amici del gruppo, con un cantato in inglese sopra arie + indie rock e veloci, ma con un effetto forma-canzone difettato da primo demo, con diverse ingenuità che lasciano poca memoria al seguito. - La strada più recente presa con Eleventh pare ottimale negli sviluppi, - però poi sta tutto nel cercare la propria scintilla e fascino per fare la differenza nell'inflazionato post-rock. // Ten Minutes to Now - s/t (5+1tx cdR promo, 31'16'' - self prod. 'o5) - First, You can order this cdR for free, just consult Band's website. - Then, principally the last three tracks of this demo seem to capture my attention, more than previous ones, touching branch lines of Music dear to Mogway and Explosions in the Sky, weavering instrumental dreamy moods, where wind blows on delay and distortion, and soft percussions and bass lines prepare the launch through the sky, opening wide the wings for the long trip: this is what best describes Eleventh. - On the contrary, the instrumental one left, Chemical Plant, styas on new-wave memories, charged with ebow, drumming and bass à la Bauhaus, maybe losing/wasting its-self in rehearsal-studio exercises. - Two friends guested at voices, singing in english on first two titles, - a couple of quicker indie-rock_like shots, in this case. I mean, if the future takes as coordinates the passion of Eleventh, that sounds as good promise, - but then the next target is that special sparkle to reach, to get out of anonimity of post-rock inflation.
